Using AI to Create Our First Customer-Facing Video

Using AI to Create Our First Customer-Facing Video

Over the past few months, I’ve been exploring how AI can support everyday tasks in our business, and this week I tackled something brand new: creating a short, customer-facing video to accompany our in-house training questionnaire.

The goal? To help delegates understand why we’re asking them to complete the questionnaire before we arrive — and to spark some ideas about what they might want to get out of the session.

Why a Video?

We figured a short video would be a more engaging and accessible way to introduce the questionnaire than a wall of text or an email attachment. It’s essentially a quick explainer, giving people an idea of what kind of things they could ask us to do during the thinkivity training — and encouraging them to think about where they’re at on their own AI journey.

It’s not just a formality. Their responses really help us tailor each session, making sure the training is as relevant and impactful as possible.

The Tools I Used (and How AI Helped)

I used Canva to create the video — a great option for beginners, especially when time is tight. Canva gave me an easy way to bring in visuals, animations, and text, but the AI came into its own during the scripting phase. We have the Canva Pro packaged and have already up loaded our branding. Creating your own content I would suggest keeping true to your brand. ChatGPT has successfully confirmed thinkivity have their signature vibe based on our interactions.

Without AI, this would have taken me days — maybe longer, because I’d have been second-guessing every sentence and fiddling with design details. But with the help of AI, I went from concept to finished video in just a couple of hours.

One of the standout lines from the video is:

“AI isn’t here to replace you. It’s here to work with you.”

It’s a message we really believe in — and something we want our customers to feel comfortable with as they begin their own journey.

Visuals that Tell a Story

To bring this blog to life visually, I also used Canva’s AI image generation — fitting, since it’s been our product of the week. I wasn’t sure which direction to go with at first, so I created three separate images.

Interestingly, the black and white image (below) captured how I felt at the start of making the video — unsure, cautious, and outside my comfort zone. But by the end of the project, the more colourful, pop-style image felt far more reflective of where I ended up: confident, creative, and excited about what AI can help us do.

Lessons Learned

This was my first attempt at video creation, and I learned a lot in the process. I now have a much better understanding of how scripting, visuals, and pacing work together — and I’m more confident about using video as a format going forward. The stock Canva voiceover wasn’t perfect, would it be worth paying extra for something else? AI always leaves the door open to keep thinking….what next?

Next video I will use an LLM with an interview conversation prompt engineering to plan…sound like a lot? There is nothing to worry about, I am going to create an easy to follow how to guide on this type of prompt engineering to get the most out of a project we will let our GlazePro AI members know when this posted. Remember, the membership to thinkivity ‘s GlazePro AI is here to support and work with you!

Most importantly, it’s reinforced something I’ve believed for a while: AI can be a genuine shortcut for small businesses, especially those in more traditional industries like ours. You don’t need to be a designer or a copywriter — you just need a clear goal and a willingness to give these tools a try.

A Tip for Other Window Companies If you’re thinking about experimenting with video, start small — and don’t overthink it. Use AI to help with the bits that usually hold you back, like writing the script or finding the right tone. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can put something together that feels professional and polished. Let AI have a go, offer feedback like you would a colleague. AI doesn’t easily offend!
